VESTOLIT GmbH once again successfully certified for its corporate standards

VESTOLIT GmbH has received the "Sicher mit System” [Systematic Safety] seal of approval for occupational safety systems and occupational health management (BGM) from the German Professional Association of Raw Materials and Chemical Industry (BG RCI).

VESTOLIT GmbH - Verleihung Gütesiegel

It was awarded to Dr. Michael Beziel, Head of Operations at VESTOLIT, by Thorsten Ettelt, BG RCI supervisor, at an official VESTOLIT event. At the event, the VESTOLIT occupational safety team members of those VESTOLIT plants that had been audited by the BG RCI experts were also present. The BG RCI certificate formally confirms to VESTOLIT that the company has continuously developed its occupational health and safety system in accordance with the OHSAS 18001 ("Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series") standard. BG RCI thus also confirms that VESTOLIT has successfully adopted the strategy of the “Vision Zero” program with the aim of zero accidents. In addition, VESTOLIT succeeded in demonstrably strengthening its health management for its employees since the last BG RCI audit.

"The certificate is a true success for the entire VESTOLIT team. With the BG RCI audit, we are given an excellent independent assessment of how well we are doing in the field of occupational safety and where we can still improve," says Dr. Beziel and emphasizes: "We're working hard to continuously improve our safety." Compared to average values for the chemical industry, recorded and published by the BG RCI, the number of accidents at VESTOLIT is significantly lower.

The figures on occupational safety are regularly published by VESTOLIT on its website as part of its environmental statement in accordance with the standard of the EC Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). "Communicating with our stakeholders is particularly important to us, which is why we have chosen a systematic approach for our social responsibility strategy and have had ourselves re-certified according to the IQNet SR10 standard," says Dr. Beziel. Further major standards according to which VESTOLIT employees work are quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), energy (ISO 50001) and hygiene according to HACCP ("Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points"). In addition, VESTOLIT is a member of the Responsible Care initiative of the chemical industry, which stands for the continuous improvement of safety, health and environmental protection within the company. Thanks to its systematic approach, VESTOLIT can also report important successes in these fields: Since the introduction of the energy management system in 2013, the company's CO2-emissions have been reduced by 37,500 tonnes year-on-year.
